Baker’s Delight

I recently visited Stuart’s of Buckhaven bakery to experience first hand the expertise that saw the bakery win a special award at the 2013 Baker of the Year awards. The 2013 awards also saw awards for Bayne’s Bakeries and GH Barnett of Cellardyke, with Dunfermline based Stephens taking home the 2013 Baker of the Year award.

I was delighted to see Fife bakeries doing so well at the 2013 Baker of the Year awards and I already celebrated the success of the Fife bakeries in Parliament through the lodging of a Parliamentary motion – allowing fellow MSPs to show their support.

I visited the Dubbieside Bakery and was shown around by Managing Director Alan Stuart. During the visit I spoke to staff and tried my hand at making doughnuts, packaging the morning rolls and cutting out the cabin rolls.

Stuart’s of Buckhaven should be congratulated as a local family run business bringing in jobs to the local economy. The hard work and dedication of the staff is clear to see in the finished products and they fully deserve their recognition, as do the other winners.

By producing award winning products, bakeries from across Fife are quickly becoming renowned for their excellent goods and customer service. We are lucky to have so many award winning family run bakeries throughout the Kingdom and we have a strong claim to be the baking capital of Scotland.
