Recently in Parliament I raised the success of Fife’s Bakers at the 2013 Baker of the Year awards. I lodged a parliamentary motion that has since picked up the support of MSPs from across the major parties. A full list of who has supported and the motion itself can be found on my parliament work page.
The 2013 Baker of the Year awards was a great success for bakers from across Fife as many left with a host of awards and commendations highlighting the quality and success of the industry in the Kingdom.By producing award winning products, bakeries from across Fife are quickly becoming renowned for their excellent goods and customer service. These achievements have now been recognised by Parliament and I am glad that members from across the political divide supported me in celebrating their success.
Stephens Bakery in Dunfermline was crowned Scottish Baker of the Year 2013 whilst also winning gold and silver in the national and regional best bakery product category for its morning rolls and bronze for its savoury in the regional category. Lochgelly bakers SM Bayne and Co won silver in the best bakery products category for its barley loaf, silver for its scone and bronze for its individual cake. Finally GH Barnett and Son from Cellardyke and Stuarts of Buckhaven Ltd also received special commendation for its customer engagement.
The 2013 awards highlight the top quality bakers that we have in the Kingdom and I was delighted to congratulate those that took part especially the successful bakers from Fife. The bakers’ success is in no small part down to the hard work and dedication of all the staff and they can be rightly proud of the awards that they have won. I wish all that took part every success for the future and look forward to their representation at the 2014 awards.
